About Us

Membership

The ACSLP includes speech-language pathologists who are chiefs, managers or supervisors of speech and language departments within publicly funded school boards in Ontario. District school boards without a speech-language pathologist in a leadership position are invited to select a staff S-LP to join the association. The ACSLP meets as a smaller leadership team and as a large group that includes S-LP staff representatives. Meetings occur at various times throughout the school year.

Purpose

ACSLP provides speech language pathologists, employed by Ontario district school boards, an opportunity to:

  • collaborate and advocate on behalf of children regarding relevant provincial policies impacting students with communication disorders
  • share evidence based practices and local solutions for supporting school age children with communication disorders in the school setting.
  • connect with researchers evaluating best practices for service delivery
  • liaise with the Minister's Advisory Council on Special Education (MACSE)
  • liaise with associations that advocate for speech-language pathology services: Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC)
